The two drivers each won a race in what turned out to be an exciting Round 4 of Yas Racing Series that also included Lamborghini Super Trofeo Middle East, Formula 4 UAE, plus others

All to play for ahead of next month’s season finale

Yas Marina Circuit, Abu Dhabi, February 25, 2019: Yas Marina Circuit witnessed an epic local motor sport battle on Friday as the two top contenders for the TRD 86 Cup crown went all out to gain supremacy.

Reigning champion Saif Al Ameri and his closest rival Kepa Carmona each won a race, with the other placing runner up respectively, upping their points tally and building up to a spectacular and highly anticipated season closer next month at Round 5 of Yas Racing Series.

Carmona edged out his rival in Race 1 with less than four seconds to spare. After regrouping, Al Ameri came back and crossed the finish line by the same margin in an extremely close Race 2.

Reema Al Juffali, the first TRD 86 Cup female driver, also gave a solid performance, finishing third in Race 1, and narrowly missing out on a top three placement in Race 2 by less than a second.

Thanks to a consistent and strong performance from both leading drivers across the season, the final podium places won’t be known until the pack are waved in by the chequered flag on 15^th March.

Also taking place was the popular Lamborghini Super Trofeo Middle East 2019. The Target Racing team clinched the win in Race 1 at Yas Marina circuit, staking its bid for the title in this popular series. After a triple win in Dubai, Timur Boguslavskiy and Frederik Schandorff dominated Friday’s racing in Abu Dhabi, taking the pole in qualifying and winning the first heat of the weekend.

The Target duo were also in excellent form on Saturday, with Timur Boguslavskiy and Frederik Schandorff cementing their Race 1 achievements with a sterling performance in Race 2, that saw them crowned champions of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Middle East at the end of the round.

The home of Formula 4 UAE, the Circuit also welcomed back its junior drivers over the weekend, with Matteo Nannini and Lucas Roy giving a good account of themselves during the FIA-accredited feeder series.
