On the occasion of the Bucket Regatta in St. Barths, Loro Piana hosted a special long weekend celebrating the spirit of summer as imagined by the Italian house. St. Barths, 25th March 2019 – Loro Piana chose the Caribbean island sanctuary of St. Barths to mark the
arrival of the bella stagione, Loro Piana style.The island, synonymous with understated chic, provided a perfect backdrop for events, which centred around two of Loro Piana’s favorite summer past times, sailing and unwinding close to nature. Guests invited to ‘Sail
into Summer’, included Daisy Bevan, Lola Schnabel, Annabelle Wallis, Chris Pine, Lady Violet Manners, Hayley Bloomingdale, Karolina Kurkova, Charley Siem and Indre Rockefeller.Saturday was spent beachside in a secluded setting, transformed for the occasion into a Loro Piana beach retreat, dressed with linen fabrics from the house’s Interiors collection. Guests enjoyed a sumptuous feast which, while utterly Caribbean, never strayed far from the Mediterranean for inspiration. A perfectly lazy afternoon, occupied with beach games, kites, live music, and fresh granitas, with the ever-open invitation of
an azure Caribbean sea, extended past sunset.
Sunday saw a change of tempo aboard ship, following the Bucket Regatta superyachts from the sea. Amongst
them, Pier Luigi Loro Piana, was competing at the helm of his boat My Song. This Regatta is unique in that it was an event conceived and hosted purely for the pleasure and enjoyment of the participants, in an utterly non commercial spirit of camaraderie. The extraordinary yachts competing made for exhilarating viewing and re-emphasized Loro Piana’s deep connection with sailing, which has been the inspiration of many collections, both technical and otherwise.
Loro Piana first started producing clothes to offer friends and clients the perfect attire to accompany their everyday lives – ordinary and extraordinary. This weekend was a distillation of the Loro Piana summer; an exciting journey following closely Pier Luigi Loro Piana’s yacht My Song in action, an experience indulging the senses, engaging with nature, solo or amongst friends, light-hearted and light-filled.
