To celebrate Karl Lagerfeld’s legacy, a global community of his friends and family has reinterpreted his most iconic design: the white shirt. Tonight in Paris, his namesake Maison was transformed into a private gallery to showcase the exclusive designs, before they head on a traveling exhibition to KARL LAGERFELD stores worldwide.
WHAT: The Maison KARL LAGERFELD proudly celebrated “A Tribute to Karl Lagerfeld: The White Shirt Project” with a private exhibition this evening in Paris, to honor Karl’s legacy through his most iconic design: the white shirt. For the tribute initiative, a global community of his friends and family — including artists, actors, models, designers and more — each created bespoke editions of the silhouette, each inspired by their own cherished memories, personal anecdotes and experiences.
Participants include Sarah Andelman, Louise Bourgoin, Ingie Chalhoub, Tiffany Cooper, Caro Daur, Lou Doillon, Kaia Gerber, Gigi Hadid, Winnie Harlow, Eva Herzigová, Davika Hoorne, Xu Jing, Afef Jnifen, Away Lee, Diala Makki, Helen Mirren, Olivia Palermo, Soo Joo Park, Elena Perminova, Holli Rogers, Sati Spivakova, Nadja Swarovski, Amber Valletta, Yoni Alter, Lil Buck, ILOVEDUST, Endless, Baptiste Giabiconi, Lewis Hamilton, Hun Kim, Simone Legno, Alton Mason, Alessandro Michele, Jean-Baptiste Mondino, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kiddy Smile, Steven Wilson, The KARL LAGERFELD Team and Choupette.
Furthermore, seven shirts — by Carine Roitfeld, Cara Delevingne, Tommy Hilfiger, Sébastien Jondeau, Diane Kruger, Kate Moss and Takashi Murakami — have been replicated 77 times and will be available from tomorrow for €777 per piece on KARL.COM and Farfetch.com. The complete proceeds will be donated to the “Sauver la Vie” charity initiative for medical research at the Paris Descartes University.
The tribute project has been curated by fashion visionary Carine Roitfeld, who was one of Karl’s closest friends and is now the Style Advisor of the Maison KARL LAGERFELD.
The special event was held in the iconic KARL LAGERFELD Maison, which is in the heart of Paris’ Saint-Germain-des-Pres neighborhood. For the occasion, the Maison and its surrounding courtyard were transformed into a gallery space including a hall of mirrors and rotating installations to display the shirts. The historic building also housed Karl Lagerfeld’s office and remains the home to his namesake brand.
