JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa announced the opening of RIHA, a new destination dining concept promising a unique and private experience around a sunken outdoor Tandoor & Tawa. Guests can embark on a flavorful journey at this hidden oasis, the new jewel in the crown of the multi-generational resort, where they’ll make their way to an enchanting sunken table, and be delighted by picturesque surroundings with the horizon and sunset at eye level.
RIHA, meaning “curry” in Dhivehi, showcases the diversity of Indian cuisine. Here a personal Chef will prepare and present an 8-course dinner, taking the guests’ taste buds on a culinary adventure, from Kashmir to Madurai, Goa, Rajasthan and Bengal, combining superior quality western produce with Indian flavors, resulting in a distinct and exceptional culinary experience.
Curated by Chef Rohit Agarwal, Chef de Partie at JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa, who has extensive experience in Indian cuisine, the menu is a blend of exquisite ingredients, with gourmet products such as foie gras, scallops, lobster and wagyu beef, built around known and popular home-cooked dishes from various parts of India. The tableware reflects Indian traditions, with copper glasses, brass, porcelain, including a local touch of coconut shell and leaves used in the plating and presentation while traditional cooking techniques of Tandoor & Tawa are used across dishes, enhancing the experience.
Chef Rohit’s passion and love for regional Indian cuisines, particularly curries, is evident in each dish, with his mother’s and grandmother’s recipes being an essential part of the menu. He breaks stereotypes by presenting western produce embracing Indian flavors, making the experience even more authentic.
“We are delighted to introduce RIHA, a culinary journey across regions and flavors of India, through dishes you know, with a unique and elevated twist. RIHA is a hidden oasis that promises a unique private dining experience and offers guests a chance to indulge their senses and fall in love with Indian cuisine all over again,” said Marc Gussing, General Manager, JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa.
RIHA is now available for bookings and guests staying at JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa can indulge in the 8-course sunken-in-sand dinner experience under the stars, surrounded by nature and tiki torches. The venue can be booked as a shared experience with the food menu priced at USD 265++ per adult and can also be booked as a private experience for a couple or family at USD 450++ per adult; beverages would be available on an a la carte basis.
