Celebrating 20 years of Zuma and 60 years of Costa Smeralda in 2022

Zuma has selected Costa Smeralda, Sardinia, as the destination for its second restaurant in Italy. The seasonal venue will bring the world-renowned contemporary izakaya concept by Rainer Becker to Porto Cervo.

Located on the top two floors of the Cervo Tennis Club, Zuma Porto Cervo will offer a brand-new rooftop destination with an open view of the marina. In the heart of bustling Porto Cervo, Zuma will be just steps away from the shopping and lifestyle hub of Promenade du Port.

“Italy has long been a focus for Zuma in Europe. This summer, we build on the success of our restaurant in Rome with the opening of Zuma Porto Cervo. Costa Smeralda shares our values of quality, respect and vision, and we feel is an ideal destination for our new seasonal Zuma location.” comments Rainer Becker, Creator and Co-Founder

Guests can expect carefully crafted cocktails and Zuma’s signature Contemporary Japanese cuisine against the backdrop of Costa Smeralda’s signature green-blue coastline. With a carefully selected menu, visitors will be able to enjoy delicious fish dishes such as sliced yellowtail, green chilli relish, ponzu and pickled garlic or robata signature dishes such as spicy beef tenderloin with sesame, red chilli and sweet soy. Natural materials are a focus for the space, featuring bamboo, ceramic tiles and stone to complement Costa Smeralda’s natural beauty.

Upon arrival, guests will enter the lower floor, welcomed with a large lounge and bar area, as well as a resident DJ in the evenings to accompany the long summer nights. Upstairs, the robata grill and sushi counter will be key focuses, with an open plan design allowing a natural flow of energy throughout the space.

Visitors to Porto Cervo will experience a summer of celebration like no other in 2022. Costa Smeralda celebrates its 60th Anniversary, since being established by Prince Aga Khan in 1962, and commemorates 60 years of history and success in protecting the natural landscape of this corner of north-east Sardinia, whilst remaining a leader in innovation in hospitality and design.

Zuma lands in Porto Cervo during its 20th Anniversary year, with the very first restaurant having opened in London in 2002. The brand’s debut in Porto Cervo is joined by two other new Zuma venues; a pop-up rooftop concept in Ibiza and a brand new lifestyle destination at Zuma Mykonos, featuring a chic infinity pool, day beds, DJs throughout the day and night, and a restaurant and bar. Set to launch in multiple international locations, Zuma Mykonos’ lifestyle concept will become a blueprint for the brand in the coming years.
